So we didn't quite make it to Oktoberfest...

I did indeed make it to Kitchener this past weekend. However, the Oktoberfest events we're far away from the grimey, dance cave better known as "Phils" that I ended up in for the evening.

You see, I went to Laurier to visit a couple of my friends. I arrived to find out that Oktoberfest tickets were sold out and that the festivities were a bit of a mission from where I was staying. So we proceeded to head downtown for the evening. I had heard incredible things about this local bar by the name of "Phils" so I suggested it to my friends.

The next thing I know, I'm heading down into this basement of a bar. Any sort of "class" was left at the door, as some of the grimiest people you have ever met filed into the bar. There were a number of students there as well, in search of epic house music and cheap drinks. It was incredible. Everybody was just dancing, and going so hard all night.

If anyone ever ends up at Phil's - here are my tips:

1) Don't touch the walls - they're wet - for whatever reason.
2) Stay off the stripper poles
3) Expect to have your drink spilled
4) Don't inhale
5) Just try and find a fire exit.

We stumbled out of there around 1:30 in the morning, only to find a fight breaking out. After being entertained for a couple of minutes, my friend suggested we move on before getting ourselves involved.

The next thing I know, I'm in my friend's apartment on the 9th floor throwing frozen fruit over the balcony. Bananas. Apples. At the time, we thought this was just an incredible idea. We were also drunk out of our tree (Go figure).

I woke up the next morning to the sounds of "My car - what the."

Apparently some of the apples Dan had thrown, had hit a car in the parking lot. His roommates car to be precise. Dan Porter was then crowned "hero" of the evening. Thankfully no damage was done.

I left that day satisfied with my stay in K/W. Although I missed out on the Oktoberfest adventures, it was fantastic to see my friends and party hardy.

I'll be back though. I'm not done with Kitchener/Waterloo just yet.
