If Mr. Clean is not fighting one of the Ghost Busters this Saturday night by the time I get to the bar, I'll be quite shocked. Or at least a bit taken aback. For after 4 years it seems that a Halloween can't go by in this university town without some form of ridiculous, drunken, costumed drama breaking out.
The bars on Richmond Row will be over crowded with students this coming weekend, expecting close to 10,000 people. The promoters have been working hard to plan epic Halloween parties with costumes and all things awesome. The controversy is bound to break out post pre-drink, as the lines start to form by 8:30 pm.
And it doesn't help that the students have spent this week in exam hell. The stresses of projects and midterms have finally hit after the vacation that was September.
Is the answer a 26er of rye and a child's koala bear outfit? Yes. Yes it is. I personally have come to love Halloween and all that it encompasses. I tend to stray away from the pack when it comes to costumes and head for a more original idea (In the past, I've been a nun, professional female figure skater, banana and bowler just to name a few!)

Furthermore, I've seen/been apart of nothing but epic Halloween Tom-Foolery. If you remember the riot that broke out in front of Georgio's Pizza two years ago, that was me. What started as a group of friends and I chanting "Go Leafs Go" and "Olay-Olay" quickly evolved to a few hundred people, blocking the streets, chanting while lifting people on chairs and jumping on cop cars. Wildness.
And let us not forget about all of the women who love the scantily-clad Halloween costumes. I've never seen so many 20-something-aged girls rocking costumes fit for 12 year-olds. Now, in no way take this as complaining. I promote it, just as much as the next boy. I just think its ridiculous when the angry arguments break out between the French maid and the nurse. It's like going to an ugly bachelor party, and watching two of the "entertainers" (I need to keep this PG-13) duke it out. It's just awkward.

Needless to say, any event that can bring the city together is good in my books. Be careful this weekend, party hard and keep an eye out for the 5-0 and small children.

Those are some amazing pumpkins...
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going as a sailor captain this year. What will you be?
I might even make it to one of Alex Gould's famous parties some time this year.
Oh man
I saw a playboy bunny get into a fight with a girl who was Willy Wonka. It was no pretty because the Willy wonka has a perfect costume but she was being made fun of because she didn't get her costume from La Senza!
ReplyDeleteno mention of the smurfs...upsetting.
